Presentation Types
Abstracts are to be submitted under a Conference theme identifying a presentation type:
| Oral presentation |
Time allocated per presentation will range from 15 minutes to 30 minutes including question and answer time and will be a part of a traditional lecture session (60 minutes to 90 minutes in length).
Note: abstracts not accepted for Oral presentations may be offered a Poster presentation instead. |
| Poster presentation |
A formal graphic presentation of a topic/theme. Time will be allocated for delegates to view and discuss poster presentations with their authors. Posters may be accompanied by handouts. |
| Workshop |
Workshops will be organised throughout the conference, both in and out of session. Workshops will provide for facilitated discussion. Workshops are useful for: encouraging dialogue; thinking about future research; policy and practice possibilities; presenting work in progress; or developing collaborative relationships.
Note:
- The number of Workshops will be limited
- Priority will be given to ILS and Thematic Committees
- Workshops will need to include a diverse range of perspectives
- Workshops may incur a hosting and additional participant cost

Abstract Submission
All abstracts must be submitted in English via the conference website by 21 August 2010 (Extended from 31 July 2010).
Abstracts will be sorted into three categories: research, policy or practice.
An abstract guide has been prepared to assist authors. This includes templates for authors seeking guidance. Note, these are guides only and submissions don’t have to follow the exact framework in the templates.
Abstract Details

Abstracts are limited to 600 words.

Abstracts from low-middle income countries are encouraged.

More than one abstract may be submitted.

Graphs, charts, tables or graphics cannot be included in your abstract.

You may edit your abstract using the Access Key provided with your Registers Users Email Confirmation via the
Registered Users Portal.

Abstracts will be reviewed based upon criteria.

The Conference Organisers reserve the right to accept and reject abstracts.

The Conference Organisers will not be held responsible for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.

It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure that the abstract is submitted correctly and includes the names of all authors.

Where there are co-authors, only one abstract is to be submitted. The submitting author is responsible for ensuring the co-authors agree with the content.

An abstract which does not adhere to these requirements is unlikely to be accepted.

The closing date for abstracts is 21 August 2010 (Extended from 31 July 2010).

All presenting authors must register and pay for the Conference by 31 December 2010; otherwise the Conference Organisers reserves the right to remove the presentation from the Conference program.
Abstract Process (including review)
Abstract submissions will go through the following review process:

Submit Abstract - In order to submit an abstract an author must register and create an account for the
WCDP2011 -Registered Users Portal. Upon registration an email confirmation with login and password (access key) details will be issued. Access to the Registered Users Portal will allow online abstract submissions.

Registered Users Portal – A submitting author can access their abstracts online and update their abstract and/or submit further abstracts up to but no later than the submission deadline of 21 August 2010 (Extended from 31 July 2010).

Thematic Review - Following the submission closing date of 21 August 2010, abstract submissions will be reviewed by conference thematic committees. Thematic committees will review submissions based upon criteria to assess and select the most suitable presentations for the conference program.

Notification: Submitting authors will be notified by email of the results by 20 October 2010. Accepted abstracts will receive presentation guidelines and briefing notes.

Confirmed Submissions – Successful authors will be required to confirm their acceptance, confirm the name of the presenter/s and register to attend the Conference by 31 December 2010 to ensure their presentation at the conference.

Program and Proceedings - All confirmed abstracts will be published in the Conference Program and Proceedings. (Note - It is the authors responsibility to ensure accuracy of content, spelling and presentation, as abstracts will be published exactly as submitted).

The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay any costs associated with attending the conference or the production of your presentation or poster (be these travel, accommodation or registration costs). Similarly, no speakers' fee, travel, accommodation, registration or other associated costs will be paid to successful authors.
By submitting this abstract you confirm if successful that the Conference Organisers may publish the abstract in the Conference Program and Proceedings in both hard copy and/or electronic format. Reference to yourself or your abstract may also be used within marketing material to promote the Conference.
The Conference Organisers and the Thematic Committees decision on acceptance of the abstracts will be final.
