WCDP2011 Conference Venue
Vietnam Map   Vietnam is a country filled with captivating natural beauty and tranquil village life. With a population of over 85 million, Vietnam is the 13th most populous country in the world. The country is listed among the "Next Eleven" economies; with a GDP growth of over 8%. International Visitors to Vietnam in 2007 reached over 4 million.

The country has three distinct areas: north, central, and south regions; each provide a diverse range of geographies including expansive beaches, fertile deltas, long winding rivers and alpine peaks.

The Conference is hosted in Danang which is located in the Central Region.

Danang is the capital of the central region and is the site of The Alliance for Safe Children’s project Safe Danang which is delivered in partnership with the Government of Vietnam. In Danang, drowning is the leading cause of child injury death after infancy, and eliminating it as a public health issue would reduce overall child mortality by a full 50%. As a result of our experience in Bangladesh we know how to achieve this. Participants at WCDP2011 will experience firsthand the achievement of this goal through a diverse range of lifesaving and drowning prevention related strategies.

The WCDP2011 Conference and Exhibition is taking delegates to the frontline of the global effort to fight drowning, immersing participants in issues and solutions to this problem in the context of a developing country.

Danang is Vietnam’s third-largest city (population 747,100) situated in the central region between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Danang serves as the economic hub between the north and the south.

Danang has a booming economy, experiencing visible and rapid growth over the last ten years. Danang International Airport is located just 3km (10 minute trip) south-west of Danang with daily domestic flights to/from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. There are International Direct flights from Singapore and Bangkok and there are plans for future flights from Hong Kong, Tokyo and Korea.

Danang has a rapidly developing tourism infrastructure to service its natural, historical and cultural tourism attractions.

The Central Region is home to historical sites, fantastic food and the country’s most iconic beach, China Beach (Danang).

The Central Region is a gateway to the country’s most famous destinations, including four must see UNESCO World Heritage Sites:

  • Former Imperial city of Hue (2 hours)
  • Architecturally impressive and the ancient ‘Silk Road’ Trading port of Hoi An (30 minutes away)
  • Phong Nha Caves in Quang Binh province (3 hours)
  • The sacred ruins of ancient My Son, the spiritual centre of the Champa civilisation, My Son (90 minutes)
